Music Alliance Ireland is inviting candidates to stand for election for four Steering Group positions at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on 26th November 2024.

Music Alliance Ireland is an alliance of music organisations and individuals, working together for the development and representation of music in Ireland.

We are seeking Steering Group members who would like to support this work, with a focus on our current aims:

  1. To establish a network and voice for music organisations and musicians.
  2. To advocate for policies that support the development of all aspects of music, including education.

  3. To work for the establishment of flagship music hubs (spaces for rehearsal, collaboration, performance, administration, recording and equipment storage) in locations around Ireland.
  4. To campaign for proper pay for musicians.
  5. To further the provision for music from Ireland in broadcasting and media.
  6. To support the development of the independent record label sector in Ireland.

Nominations are welcome from all members, artists, artistic directors, company directors, festival directors, and venue directors etc – as well as any professional working in or with arts organisations.

MAI is very grateful to Music Network and Crash for all of their work while on the Steering Group.

The remaining members of the Steering Group are: Kirkos Ensemble, Diatribe Records, the Contemporary Music Centre, Improvised Music Company, the Irish Traditional Music Archive, Music for Galway, and the Journal of Music.

The role
The MAI Steering Group meets online 10 times per year, often in the early afternoon on a weekday, with some additional public meetings, member meetings or working group meetings.

As a voluntary organisation, there is no remuneration attached to the position, however, MAI works to defray any expenses incurred for freelance Steering Group members and those not supported by funded organisations.
